Thomas J. Merle, M.D.
I was born in Akron, Ohio. My father was a firefighter and my mother was a homemaker, taking care of 7 children. As a boy I really enjoyed playing baseball and football. When I went away to college, I worked as a painter during the summer months. I received my Doctorate in Medicine in 1982 from Ohio State University. Upon graduation, I went on to get my residency in general surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and my residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Alberta Hospitals in Edmonton, Albert, Canada.
In 1991, I moved to Kettering, Ohio to work as a cardiothoracic surgeon. In 2004, I joined and became a partner at Kettering Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons, Inc. When I am not in the operating room, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf and traveling. |
